Happy Sunday everyone!

We’ve had an awesome day today in Charlotte, North Carolina! All of our churches have arrived safely and can’t wait to start their work week tomorrow.

This afternoon once everyone had registered, our students enjoyed Opening Celebration with our band led by Justin Schultz. In this meeting, the students got to enjoy some games and entertainment to get them pumped and ready for the upcoming work week.

While the students were meting, our adults met with our Project and Construction Coordinators Rhonda Polk and Steve Swann where they were given time to ask questions about the project, and to hear from our PC.

This week we will have thirteen squads working throughout the Charlotte and Gastonia areas. They will be roofing, painting, and completing other projects such as landscaping and yard work.

Tonight after dinner, our participants attended worship where our speaker Justin Schultz spoke to us about how throughout this week we are not here for us or our glory. We are here to serve others and show the love of Christ. He also spoke on how we were all created in God’s image.

Justin spoke to us about how wee ned to “quit comparing and putting filters on ourselves,” and to recognize that God made us all individually. At the end of the day we shouldn’t be worried about how we look to others, instead we should be thanking God for making us the way we are.

Later tonight, our participants met with their squads and had their first squad chat of the week. During this time, they assigned positions such as Medic, Chaplain, Break Masters, and Squad Reporters. Once they were assigned, they attended squad position training where they learned how to fulfill the duties of their roles.

Now all of our participants are in bed and getting ready for their first day on the job sites tomorrow. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for them this week, and what He is going to do here in Charlotte.
