Happy Sunday!

It had been a truly awesome day here in Juana Diaz. This morning, we worshipped at a local church, Iglesias Bautista El Mesias. We worshipped in both Spanish and English with the local population and listened to the message given through a translator by our Construction Coordinator and Pastor of El Mesias, Victor Morales.

After lunch, we returned to the lodging facility to meet our squads for the very first time! We have five teams this week working on a variety of construction tasks. We had time to rest this afternoon and prepare for a week of hard work.

Tonight in worship, our Speaker Brandon Roney spoke from Philippians 2:1-10. He explained that when Jesus came to Earth, the picture of perfection came down giving up his rights to be God and chose to be a servant to serve others. He also reminded us that Jesus came to serve each and every human being in the world. He challenged us to have a servant heart this week and we serve in the heat and outside of our comfort zones.

Please pray for our groups as they go out for the first day on the worksites tomorrow. Pray for safety, hydration, and patience for our participants and leaders tomorrow.

Check us out on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter to see the pictures from this week, as well as pictures from the other projects this summer! You can send words of encouragement to the participants this week by sending them Servemail.  You can also add us on Snapchat.

Your Summer Staffers,
Hannah and Claire
