CHARLOTTE BLOG

Charlotte – Friday

What a week it has been here in Charlotte, North Carolina!

All twelve of our squads were able to accomplish all of their projects and even finished four extra ones by the end of the day today. The kids were able to connect with their homeowners this morning and invite them to a closing celebration that was held later tonight. We are so thankful to have been able to serve not only these individuals, but also the Charlotte community as a whole.

Tonight, we joined together to listen to Justin’s final message on Go. He challenged us to take everything we have learned this week and done here in Charlotte, and bring it back to our homes. Sharing the love of Christ and his word doesn’t end when this project ends; it continues on as we go from here. Following worship, we had a closing celebration where we were able to recognize all of the people that helped to make the project flow this week. Without all of them, this wouldn’t be possible.

As we come to a close here in Charlotte, we want to thank all of those that continued to pray for and encourage all of our students throughout the week. The power of prayer is so great and God moved tremendously throughout this entire week. we couldn’t be more thankful.

In Christ,
Kate and Jack

Charlotte – Thursday

Happy Thursday everyone!

What a day it has been here in Charlotte! The squads headed out to job sites early, excited to get to work. A few of our squads were able to get their homes finished and headed to other sites to help. The City of Charlotte came to interview construction captains and a few of our participants about what we are doing here this week and how we are helping these homeowners.

Tonight, our speaker Justin, spoke about following God’s calling for you. He talked about how its not easy, but how we shouldn’t just say we love but we need to show we love. You can say you love your family, but unless your actions match your words, it is useless. Your actions must follow your words or it is not meaningful.

Tomorrow morning, our squads will head out to job sites for the last time to finish up projects and re-connect with their homeowners. They are super excited to be able to see their finished products of all of the hard work they’ve put in.

As we begin to close out this week, we ask that you keep our participants and homeowners in your prayers. We ask that you take this last day to allow us to spread the love of Christ in a practical one last time here in Charlotte before heading back to our homes.

Charlotte – Wednesday

Happy Wednesday everyone!

We had a great day here in Charlotte. Our squads headed out to worksites this morning and worked a half day before returning to the job sites early this afternoon. They then headed out with their churches to enjoy some well deserved off time at Carowinds, the lake, and the mall! They are now settling down and resting up for another full day of work tomorrow!

Please continue to keep the participants in your prayers as we transition into the second half of the week and begin finishing up on homes and sharing the love of Christ.

Charlotte – Tuesday

Happy Tuesday everyone!!!

We had an amazing second day in Charlotte. Squads headed out bright and early after send off and were pumped to start working. Two of our squads were able to finish up at their homes today and will be starting on new projects the first half of tomorrow before getting the entire afternoon off to go out and explore the surrounding cities with their church groups.

Tonight, was a special night of worship called Concert of Prayer. The students entered into the sanctuary quietly and were lead in a series of pray exercises between praising god through songs of worship. Our participants came together to pray and engage with each other in this very emotional night. God was seen moving throughout the participants and through the sanctuary in numerous ways and many were brought to tears.

Tomorrow afternoon, our squads will head out early for a half day of work before getting to enjoy some well deserved fun and time out of the heat. Please keep our participants in your prayers as they continue to share God’s love throughout the week with homeowners and surrounding community.

Don’t forget to send your friends, family, and students encouraging messages through ServeMail!

Charlotte – Monday

Happy Monday everyone!

Our squads headed out to their job sites bright and early this morning after participating in an amazing send off celebration led by fellow students and our speaker!! They returned this afternoon, excited for tomorrow and ready to accomplish more work!

Tonight during worship, our speaker Justin, talked about how God calls us to GO. In order to be a follower of Christ we must go out into the world and show others the love he shows us. We cannot be passive, but simply GO!

Tomorrow, our squads will head back out for day two of working and are ready to share the love of God through not only their words but through the work they are doing on these homeowners houses!

Don’t forget to send encouraging words to your students, friends, and family through ServeMail!

Charlotte – Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone!

We had a great registration day here in Charlotte, NC. All six of our churches arrived safely from North Carolina, Alabama, and Virginia. Everyone got to enjoy some fun games and entertainment led by fellow students at opening celebration before heading to dinner and worship.

Tonight in worship, our speaker for the week, Justin Schultz, gave us an opening look into this weeks message based out of Acts Chapter 9. Following worship, our participants were able to enjoy some devotional time with their youth groups before heading to squad assignments where they were given roles such as Break Master, Medic, Chaplain, and Reporter. Following this, they headed to training for each of their specific jobs.

Tomorrow morning, we will head out bright and early to the job sites. As the participants are settling down for the night, excited to head out to work, we ask that you pray for their safety this week along with our participants individually, our homeowners, and anyone we will meet and talk with along the week.
