MARION BLOG

Marion – Friday

Happy Friday!

How can this week already be coming to an end?! It has been such an incredible week and we are so thankful for the way that the Lord has worked and moved this week. Our participants worked so hard to be able to complete their jobs for their homeowners. Some even worked later, or went and helped out another squad so that each site would be complete!

Tonight we had our closing celebration. We were able to honor each individual who held a leadership role and thank them for their sacrifice! Then, all of our squads had their final squad chat to end off the week. We even had many homeowners come and join us for our celebration.

Our band and speaker, Tony, led us in our final worship service. It was such an incredible way to close out the week. Tony reminded us through a monologue of Peter’s life that just as Peter wasn’t perfect, he knows that we will not be perfect. However, Jesus just wants us to be the best we can and he will still love us the same!

Thank you for joining along and praying for us this week! It has been an incredible week here in Marion, Ohio and many lives have been touched and changed!

Marion – Thursday

Happy Thursday!

It has been a great day here in Marion, Ohio! Some of our squads finished up today and will be able to move to other sites to help their fellow squads finish their sites. Our squads are making great progress and should all be finished up by tomorrow afternoon. Despite the heat, all of our participants have worked so hard and we are so thankful for their heart to serve here this week!

Tonight, we had our Concert of Prayer. Our Concert of Prayer was centered around scripture, prayer, worship and communion. The Holy Spirit’s presence was clear tonight and many lives were moved and changed during this special time of worship! It’s so awesome to see God move just through scripture, prayer and worship. Many of our students will be returning home different because of this.

As our participants rap up their sites tomorrow, we ask that you continue to pray for safety and for the weather to stay cool! We have surely felt your prayers this week and could not be more thankful for your involvement.

Finally, send your friends and family one last word of encouragement through ServeMail!

Marion – Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

We had a great day here in Marion, Ohio! The weather has been so awesome and the rain has held off. The participants worked half of the day before heading back to the facility to get ready for their afternoon off.

Some of our groups went shopping, one group did an escape room, and one group went to Magic Mountain, an amusement park in Columbus. Everyone came back so excited and rejuvenated after an afternoon off from work!

Please continue to pray for everyone involved and for a great finish to our project! Also, send your friends and family a word of encouragement through ServeMail.

Marion – Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!

This morning our participants headed out for their second day of work just as excited as yesterday! Everyone now knows their squad really well and great relationships are being formed.

We are so thankful that our participants have put their all into sharing the love of Jesus through the act of repairing roofs, painting homes, and building ramps! Because of their servant hearts, lives are being changed.

Tonight at worship we learned about the Holy Spirit through Tony’s message. We specifically learned that with the Holy Spirit, we receive the power of God. Tony related this by teaching us that receiving the power of God is like receiving a power tool at our job sites this week. How relatable?! We also learned that through the Holy Spirit, we get the perspective of God along with the protection of God. We wrapped up our worship time by asking the Holy Spirit to pour into us.

As our participants are getting ready for their half day of work tomorrow and some free time tomorrow afternoon, we ask that you continue to pray for everyone that is involved. Don’t forget to send your friends and family a note through ServeMail.

Talk to you later,
Madeline & Jackson

Marion – Monday

Happy Monday!

It’s been a great day here in Marion, Ohio and we cannot wait to see what God has in store for the rest of the week!

This morning we kicked off our first day of work with the Great Sendoff that was full of singing and dancing! Our participants were excited and ready to begin sharing the love of Jesus here in Marion.

After a long day of work, thankfully the rain held off, our participants enjoyed some time relaxing, fellowshipping with each other, and playing some basketball and nine square. We are so thankful for these participants and their willingness to serve the Lord and all of the hard work they have put forth today.

Tonight at worship, Tony spoke to us about obedience. We learned that obedience is not an option, it is required. If we are going to follow Jesus, we have to obey Him. If God is going to restore our lives, we have to do what he calls us to!

As our participants are winding down after a long day of work, we ask that you continue to prayer for safety over everyone involved as we serve the Marion area!

Remember to send those Servemail messages. The participants love getting them.

Marion – Sunday

Happy Sunday!

This morning all of our squads headed out to local churches to worship and fellowship with the Marion community. After fellowshipping, each squad headed out to their worksites to see where they will be working this week! Many squads even got the privilege of meeting their homeowner!

Each squad came back from their worksites very excited for the week ahead! We then had squad position training for our break masters, medics, chaplains, and reporters. They are now equipped and ready to lead their squads!

Tonight, we had our first official night of worship. Our band is a local group of worship leaders coming together. Our speaker delivered a great message tonight from Acts 9:1-5 to begin showing us how Saul was restored. He reminded us that we were created to be in relationship with God. He concluded with teaching us how restoration is a process that begins by seeing and coming to the one true light. Jesus is the one true light. And finally, satan is trying to deceive us from the one true light, Jesus.

We are so excited to have the opportunity to wake up and serve the Marion community tomorrow morning. Please continue to be in prayer for everyone involved this week.

Also, don’t forget to send your friends and family an encouraging note through ServeMail!

Until tomorrow,
Madeline & Jackson

Marion – Saturday

Happy Saturday!

This afternoon, the rain came to a stop just as our first church began to arrive! All six of our churches arrived safely and unloaded their luggages and got their cots and air mattresses all set up. Our churches this week are from Ohio, West Virginia, Missouri, and Kentucky. We are very thankful for everyone that has come to Marion to serve with us this week and we cannot wait to see what the week has in store!

Tonight our squads met for the very first time. The squads even got some additional time to get to know each other. Our squads participated in a scavenger hunt tonight through the town of Marion. Everyone had so much fun and our winning squad even gets a special treat this week at their worksite.

Following our scavenger hunt, we had an ice cream social to finish off the fun day we have had!

Tomorrow morning our squads will head to local churches for worship. We are so excited to see what God has in store for this week! We ask that you please pray for everyone involved in this project. Also pray for the weather, that it will corporate with us so we are able to complete our jobs.

If you want to send your friends and family and encouraging, you can do this through ServeMail!
