TRENTON BLOG

Trenton – Friday

It’s a Fabulous Friday here in Trenton, NJ

Today was a great day as we finished up strong on most of our sites! It’s been a great week in Trenton and it feels good to look back on the work we’ve done! Today was made even more special by a few different things, first of which was a press-conference Shiloh Baptist Church hosted!

A number of prominent figures in the community, including the mayor, a county representative, the City Planner, and County Manager all came and thanked us for our work, and for how much we’ve impacted the community! We also had a cool opportunity for some of the participants to practice, and then lead the music for our opening celebration. The biggest event by far today happened during worship, Steven (a participant) was a baptized! It was a perfect way to end an awesome week, and we pray for safe travels for all the participants as they leave early tomorrow morning!

Trenton – Thursday

It’s a Top-notch Thursday here in Trenton, NJ!

What a wonderful day it has been today! Our day was started out with some cooler weather and squads that were ready to get back onto the worksites! A few of our squads, finished up early today, and were able to go to other groups sites and lend a hand!

One of those sites was a roofing/paint project. The extra hands allowed the entire roof to be paper and ready to shingle tomorrow, and for the sides to be scrapped of paint! All this help at the site also allowed some of the participants to sit down with the homeowner and talk about their life and play in the backyard with his children!

After all the excitement from today, a hot shower, and some good baked chicken it was time for worship. Tonight was incredible, you could felt the spirit of God move in that place! We worshiped and Thomas delivered a great message. He spoke on how to continue our faith after this week and how we need to surround ourselves with Christian friends and mentors. His message was so well received that many students came down to the altar to pray with their friends and mentors, and it was beautiful.

We are so amazed about how God has moved this week, and is going to continue to move! Please keep us in your prayers, and to pray specifically for the participants and the people they are touching this week. Also, you can encourage these participants and leaders through Serve Mail!

Trenton – Wednesday

It’s a wonderful Wednesday in Trenton today!

The squads worked amazingly hard today, with the goal of a half-day in sight. Many of the crews were able to get enough done that they made up for time lost yesterday because of the rain! Also, two of the local pastors were able to ride around with the PC to sites to encourage the participants!

The groups went many places around New Jersey today! Some churches went into the city of Trenton, while others went to the beach and others went tubing! All the groups are now safely back, and feeling refreshed. They are ready now for the rest of the week, and to finish everything up!

Continue to pray for the squads this week and the people they are impacting! Also, remember that you encourage these participants through Serve Mail!

Joyfully with Jesus,

Trenton – Tuesday

It’s a Terrific Tuesday here in Trenton, NJ!

Today, was a busy and full day! Many of the squads made some excellent progress today and came back feeling quite accomplished.

Thankfully, the rain didn’t dampen our evening. After a traditional Philly cheesesteak, we had the Concert of prayer. It’s undeniable how much the Spirit moved tonight. A large group of participants came together at the altar and worshipped, and responded to a challenge to write something they were being called to do, and sign their name to it. So far, we have had three people make a confession of faith, and we cannot wait to see how the Holy Spirit moves the rest of the week!

Please pray for the participants this week, that they impact Trenton and are impacted in return! Also, remember that you can always encourage these groups through Serve Mail!

In Christ,
Samantha and Thomas

Trenton – Monday

It’s a Marvelous Monday in Trenton, New Jersey!

This morning we sent off our squads to work with a Great Send off! Everyone gathered in the church worship center, and worshipped with each other before departing to their various worksites! This week, the squads are doing a large variety of work. They are doing everything from roofing, to painting, to fencing and one group is even renovating a old garage to transform it into the food bank!

After everyone returned from the sites, and showered we had some amazing dinner before heading to worship. Tonight, Thomas talked about Saul’s transition to Paul, and how great a transformation that was. His focal point in the message was how the change was drastic and sudden and how their was no way for Paul to return to his old life.

Please remember to pray for the community the participants are impacting and for the participants themselves! Also, you can join in on helping encourage these participants through ServeMail!

Hopping in the Holy Spirit,

Trenton – Sunday

Its a Super Sunday in Trenton today!

Today we got up bright and early for an amazing breakfast provided by Central Baptist Church, before we split up we all gathered as a large group to pray before splitting up, to go our different host-churches throughout the community for morning service.

Four of the groups found themselves at Shiloh Baptist Church, where they are doing work this week. While the Mission Serve volunteers and staff attended Central Baptist and were touched when the entire congregation laid hands on us and prayed over our week.

Our afternoon was busy one, as we visited worksites, did our church photos, and had squad position training. Worship tonight was an amazing experience, and Pastor Samaha did an awesome job, honing in on our key verse this week: 2 Corinthians 5:17. He used suitcases and duffle bags to illustrate how the world gives us baggage in the lies we believe, and how to leave them at the cross.

Please pray for the groups as they begin work tomorrow, and for the community they are reaching for Christ this week! Also you can encourage the participants this week with Serve Mail!

Trenton – Saturday

It’s a Super Saturday here in Trenton, New Jersey!

Today has been an awesome first day, and Central Baptist Church an amazing host! The first groups started to arrive at 2 this afternoon and took a quick tour of the building, courtesy our volunteer staff. All groups arrived safely and just in time for Opening Celebration!

Opening Celebration was a fun time and the church groups ever able to get to know each other a better. The participants played Gorilla, Man, Gun (Rock, paper, scissors with different big motions) and then had an impromptu Dr. Seuss rap battle. After all a full day of travel and all this excitement, it was finally dinner time!

Dinner was a taste of New York, with a traditional New York style pizza that everyone devoured before moving into a time of worship. The Central Baptist Worship Team led us tonight and did a stellar job bringing us closer to the spirit before the message. After the group devotions, the first squad chats took place and all the participants learned who they would be with this week before going off to bed! Overall it’s been a fun-filled, busy day!

Please pray for the groups this week and the community they are going to impact! Also, you can encourage these participants through Serve Mail!
