Walterboro – Friday

Happy Friday!

Today, all 14 squads wrapped up and completed each and every project. We can never express how much each participants’ hard work and dedication they have put forth this week means to us! All of our squads worked so hard, that they were able to finish up after lunch and headed back to the school for some relaxation. Some of our students even matched up for a flag football game.

Tonight for the Closing Celebration, we recognized all of our leaders and ended with a final squad chat! We then wrapped up with one last worship service. Scott reminded us that our focus for the week was our theme, restoration. He told us that we are all in this together, and never have to go about this life alone. Scott challenged us to act as Saul did, to proclaim him with our lips. Finally, when we are restored, our actions should look differently!

Thank you so much for praying and thinking of us this week!

Walterboro – Thurday

Happy Thursday friends!

How can tomorrow already be Friday?! Our participants have worked so hard and today they accomplished so much work! It even looks like all of our squads will be done after lunch time tomorrow! We are so thankful for all of the hard work they have put in so far, and we know that the home owners are incredibly thankful that these students took a week out of their summer to come and serve.

Tonight, our worship time was the Concert of Prayer. The Concert of Prayer was an incredible and powerful time of worshipping, scripture, prayer and restoration. Its so awesome how something so simple can be so impactful. Many hearts and lives were touched tonight and our participants cities and towns will not look the same because of how the Holy Spirit moved tonight through the Concert of Prayer.

We appreciate all of the prayers you have already prayed, and we ask that you continue to prayer for our participants as they head out into the community for one last day of work! Don’t forget to send your friends and family one last ServeMail!

The squads made great process on their homes and ministry sites today and will head out tomorrow for the last half of the week ready to complete their jobs!

For an afternoon off of fun, some of our groups headed to Edisto Beach. Some went shopping at the Tanger Outlets in Charleston, and some headed to Folly Beach that is also in Charleston! Everyone was thankful for an afternoon of relaxation and fun!

Walterboro – Tuesday

Happy  Tuesday!

Today, all of our squads were excited to head out for day two. Because of this excitement and dedication, the participants were able to accomplish a lot of work to set them up perfectly for their half day tomorrow!

Tonight looked a little different than most nights! We had our Terrific Tuesday Celebration. This celebration was filled with fun and challenged each squad to work on their communication and teamwork skills that were not only useful for the relay but also the work they are doing each day to the homes they are working on. Each squad competed against each other in a relay race competition. The challenges ranged from eating jars of baby food, putting multiple saltine crackers and attempting to whistle, and even putting vaseline on your nose and trying to get cotton balls to stick. There was also a written test for the “secret weapon” of the squad. This secret weapon was chosen without knowing the task ahead of them. All of the points were added up from relay race and the written test and first, second, and third places were awarded a special prize. Following our relay race, we enjoyed popcorn and snow cones to cool down and then headed over to our worship center to listen to a special speaker and comedian, John Felts.

We have had an incredible Tuesday here in Walterboro that was full of not only hard work, but also some fun! Please continue to pray for everyone involved as we head into our half day of work tomorrow. Following the half day of work, all of our churches will head out for a night of relaxation.

Walterboro – Monday

Happy Monday!

We have had a great day here in Walterboro, SC, and we are so excited to see what the Lord has for us as we dive into the week!

This morning we kicked off our first day of work with our great send off! Everyone was so excited to head out to their worksites and begin laying the foundation of showing Christ’s love.

After a long but great day on the work sites, our participants enjoyed some time in the AC hanging out with their new friends, relaxing, and playing some volleyball and basketball in the gym!

Our participants have been so awesome and we are so thankful for all of the hard work and willingness to take a week out of the summer to serve! Without their dedication, this week would not be possible.

Tonight our speaker Scott continued to talk to us about Saul’s journey. Through some of Saul’s journey we learned that we have God’s power, God’s perspective, and God’s protection. When we allow the Holy Spirit to come into our lives and use us, restoration will happen!

As our participants head off to bed to get rested for tomorrow’s work, we ask that you pray for the participants, squad leaders, construction captains, and volunteers as the continue to work to restore homes and lives in the Walterboro community.

We would love for you to send your friends and family a letter through ServeMail!

Walterboro – Sunday

Happy Sunday from Walterboro!

What a great and exciting day we have had down here in South Carolina?! This morning our squads had their first squad chat of the week and then headed out to 14 different local churches to worship and fellowship throughout the community. Following this time of fellowship, our squads headed out to their worksites to see what their week is going to hold!

Once all of the squads got back, the reporters, medics, chaplains, and breakmasters of each squad were trained on their job for the week!

Tonight our band led us in a great time of worship and our speaker, Scott delivered our second message about obedience. He taught us that we must walk in complete obedience to him. He reminded us that it is difficult to walk in darkness. However, in order for us to be obedient, we just need to trust the Lord and go.

All of our participants are excited to head out for their first day of work tomorrow. We ask that you pray for everyone involved in this project! Don’t forget that you can send your friends and family a word of encouragement through ServeMail.

Walterboro – Saturday

Happy Saturday!

This afternoon, all six of our churches arrived safe and sound here with us. Our churches are from South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky this week! The rain held off all afternoon, despite the way the weather was looking. We are very thankful for the weather holding off as everyone was arriving and unloading their luggage into the school.

Scott, our speaker delivered an incredible message tonight to get us started for the week. Our theme for the week is Restore. Scott reminded us, that restore means to return something to its an original creation. In Acts 9:1-5, Jesus revealed to Saul who he is. Scott reminded us that, like Saul had to do, we must see the one true light. If we allow God to be our light, he will restore a beauty we have never seen before! Our worship band this week is the Village Church band. They did a great job leading us in worship.

As everyone settles in for the night, everyone is very excited to see what the week holds. Tomorrow morning, all of our participants will wake up and find out what squad they are on. What an exciting time!

If you want to send your friends or family some words of encouragement, you can do so through our ServeMail.
