It has been a marvelous Monday! We started off the morning with prayer and our Great Send Off, and our squads went on their way!

From here, five of the squads went out to the homes and churches that they will be working on this week.  These squads are doing things like repairing roofs, putting up new drywall, and fixing various other things on their sites.  The other two squads went to two separate locations in the community and ran three Vacation Bible Schools, as well as helped out in our host church’s Clothes Closet.  At the VBS locations, the participants enjoyed time playing games, making crafts, singing songs, and worshipping with many kids from the community.

The squad members returned a little tired, but excited to see what God has in store for them this week!

Tonight our speaker, Steve Brown, talked to us about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ, and how important it is to really see people and have compassion for them. He also reminded us that God moves mountains and is currently moving mountains here in Washington, DC.

We are excited for another day of work tomorrow!  Check us out on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to see more of our Washington, DC Project. Also don’t forget to send ServeMail to participants this week!

Your Summer Staff,

Pat and Lindsey
