Our Story
Serve Management Group (Mission Serve) was founded in the fall 2003 by Andy Morris, and current Executive Director Chuck Morris. Andy had previously served as Director of World Changers at the Brotherhood Commission and as manager of Student Volunteer Mobilization at the North American Mission Board (NAMB).
In 2001, Andy was asked by the State Conventions of Georgia, North Carolina, and Alabama to lead up a new joint state strategy for the three conventions that included World Changers in each state. This strategy involved working with the men’s ministries department of each state to allow World Changers projects to meet state strategies as well as NAMB strategy. Morris piloted this new strategy in 2001 while still at NAMB.
From 2001 to 2004 this strategy was done under the existing non-profit of HouseCalls International. In the fall of 2003, HouseCalls International decided that this strategy was no longer an important aspect of their work and Serve Management Group was formed.
In the spring of 2004, Serve started a year-round mission experience called Serve 365. Through this program, churches are able to schedule and customize mission experiences in different cities throughout the year. This program also allowed Mission Serve to enter into a relationship with the city of Birmingham and other agencies as their rehab agency.
SMG has changed its name to Mission Serve and now offers pre-packaged and customized trips through its Mission Serve and Serve 365 programs. Mission Serve’s goal is to mobilize multiple groups to bring hope to communities through rehabilitation and revitalization. Mission Serve continues to partner with local city governments and churches to rehabilitate homes all over the United States.
