West Frankfort – Wednesday

Happy Wednesday from West Frankfort!

Today was our half work day and the rest of the day was an off day. All of our squads have made great progress on their sites. They really deserved and worked for their day off!

Each youth group went different places for their half day like touring St. Louis, fishing at the lake, going to the mall and more! It was a great day for work and fun!

All the participants are excited to start finishing up on their worksites tomorrow. Also, they are looking forward to our Concert of Prayer, which is a great opportunity for students to grow stronger in their faith!

Please continue to pray for our students as they finish strong this week. Don’t forget to keep showing your support through ServeMail!

Savannah – Tuesday

Happy Taco Tuesday!

This morning, our squads went out to work on their houses bright and early. They were eager to keep working and making a difference. It started to rain but it quickly cleared up for the crews. The squads continued to work on the 5 houses and build relationships with the homeowners.

After returning from the sites, participants were treated to Taco Tuesday, which was a huge hit. After dinner, Speaker Jon Tillman and the band lead an impactful service that spoke on being devoted to others. Offering was also taken up during the service and a total of $543.35 was raised. It is truly a blessing to receive such an amount that will be put to hurricane relief effort in Puerto Rico.

Tomorrow, the squads have a half day. They will work on houses in the morning and have the afternoon off to enjoy Savannah and Tybee Island. Pray for safe travels and fun adventures!

Make sure to keep support everyone at the project by sending them ServeMail. Participants and leaders alike love to see a sweet message of support!

West Frankfort – Tuesday

Happy, happy Tuesday from WF!

All of our squads had a very productive day! A few of them are very close to finishing up their roofs, and after that they will head over to help the others finish up by the end of the week. There was a little rain on and off throughout the afternoon. However, that didn’t stop our participants from working hard!

The squad that is serving at the Herrin House of Hope served over 200 people again today! God is so good!

This evening we heard a fantastic message from our awesome speaker, Jeremy Myers. He spoke about the woman at the well and how we need to focus on loving others who are not always the same as we are.

After the long day, everyone is ready for bed to rest up for our half day tomorrow! They will head to their work sites, work until noon and then spend the afternoon with their youth groups for a free day!

Please continue to keep our students in your prayers for the remainder of the week. Also, don’t forget to send them ServeMail to keep in touch!

We hope everyone had an amazing Tuesday!

West Frankfort – Monday

What a GREAT Monday we had here in West Frankfort!

We begin the morning with our Great Sendoff and the squads headed off to their first day on the job sites with excitement and eager hearts! Construction begin on 7 different sites and one squad working in a soup kitchen, HOW AWESOME!

A member of Romeo, who’s squad is working in the soup kitchen, reported that the Director of Herrin House of Hope shared his testimony with the participants during their lunch preparation time. Between the hours of 12-2pm they served over 200 people lunch for the day!

Tonight during our service, Pastor Jeremy, talked about daring to trust Jesus. In order to do this, we need to keep our eyes on Christ and take this unknown and unforeseen step out into the open, just like Peter did when he stepped out in the water to follow Jesus in Matthew 14.

After service and church group devotions, the participants enjoyed spending free time playing basketball in the gym, hanging out with friends, and visiting the Mission Serve Promo Table.

Please keep our students in your prayers this week. Also, don’t forget to show your support through sending ServeMail!

Savannah – Monday

Happy Monday!

Today, the participants were up bright and early to start their days working on homes in the Savannah area.  There are five squads: four of the squads are working on paint jobs, and one squad is working on roofing.  All of the squads were very productive and came back to the church tired, but safe and smiling! Be sure to support your participant by sending them ServeMail!

After the squads rested and cleaned up, we all gathered together for a time of worship.  Tonight, the message was daring to put others first. The message served as a great reminder of why we serve and why we are here this week.

After worship, we had our students had great talks in their youth group devotional time and played games in the fellowship hall. It is really cool to see new friendships form and grow in this environment. Tomorrow, the squads head back out to the sites and pray that the rain stays away.

Sending Smiles,
Jenna & Sam

West Frankfort – Sunday

Sunday funday here in West Frankfort!

This morning our participants attended local church services with their squads. The churches fed them lunch for the day and will be feeding them lunch all week at their job sites. We are so thankful for these churches and everything they do for us!

Our squads gathered this afternoon to assign squads positions and then we had position training! Each squad has a medic, chaplain, reporter and break master. Participants with positions were very excited to learn about their new roles.

Tonight during our worship service, our speaker, Jeremy Myers, talked about loving our neighbors. He spoke from Galatians 5:13 about loving the Lord first and then loving your neighbors, daring us to love them as yourself.

Everyone here in West Frankfort is thrilled to begin their first day on the job sites tomorrow morning! We cannot wait to see what God is going to do this week! Please keep our students in your prayers throughout the long week ahead. Also, don’t forget to show your support by sending ServeMail.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Father’s Day!

Savannah – Sunday

Happy Sunday and Registration Day from Savannah!

Today was the first day of the Savannah 2019 projects. All the churches involved this week arrived safely from the states of Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina, ready for a day of fun, fellowship, and worship.

Our #1 guy, Heath Holly, welcomed participants as they arrived and led an amazing night of worship with the band. Speaker Jon Tillman read from Jeremiah 1:4-8 and spoke on letting God work for you, a truly great message to start off the week.

The five squads also met each other for the first time today and are ready to get to work tomorrow morning. Not only are the students ready to help the community, but so are all of our leaders. Make sure to keep the Savannah project in your prayers and send us ServeMail to show your support! We look forward to an amazing, God-filled week!

West Frankfort – Saturday

Happy Saturday from West Frankfort!

Registration day is complete, so let the mission begin! All of our groups arrived safe and sound from their home states of Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi and Illinois. All the participants are very excited and eager to start the busy week ahead!

Tonight, our speaker, Mike Lyon, challenged us to step out of our comfort zone, to be bold, and to be daring this week. What a great message to start off an amazing week! After worship, all participants met with their squads for the first time, everyone is very excited about creating new friendships.

Tomorrow morning everyone will attend a local church service with their squad. We are so grateful for the churches in the West Frankfort community for hosting our participants for lunch and worship.

Please remember to keep all of our participants in your prayers as they head off to work sites this week. Also, show your support by sending ServeMail to the mailboxes here in West Frankfort!

Friday – Buckhorn

Happy Friday from Mission Serve Buckhorn!

Today was the last day of worksites. Our squads have completed so much in just one week. They worked hard and finished up every part of their projects! The outcome here is astonishing as most all of our church groups have worked at every house, building, cottage, and more on the Buckhorn Children’s Home campuses. Also, Pastor Steve had the opportunity to baptize 3 of the girls from the girls campuses. God is so good and is working all the time!

Tonight was our closing celebration. We recognized the hard work of not only the participants, but our awesome band, Project Coordinator, Construction Coordinator, Construction Captains, Squad Leaders, Kitchen Staff, and volunteers. We truly could not do a project without all of these amazing people. At closing celebration we auctioned off some homemade items from the students in the Children’s Home. All of the proceeds went to our mission’s offering, which goes to Puerto Rico Hurricane relief. It is so cool to see different causes pulling together to benefit one another.

It was especially hard to say goodbye tonight to one another and also the children. However, many of the same churches will return for this project for their fourth year here to reconnect! We cannot wait to see what the future holds here in Buckhorn. Our students spreading the love of Jesus has really made a difference!

Thank you all for the support you gave. Have a great Friday and the rest of your summers!

Olivia and Jackson

Lancaster – Friday

Here in Lancaster we are FEELING FRIDAY!

Today has been absolutely incredible. From the start, our participants were extremely motivated and excited to take on the final day. We are incredibly excited to announce that not only did each of our eight squads finish their projects, but we were also to complete two additional projects within the community. How awesome is that?

We have been so blessed this week in the sense that so many of our participants were able to meet and form a relationship with a home owner. The Construction Captain from Charlie squad decided to invite their home owner to dinner and worship. It is awesome that they were able to work on her house in the morning and worship with her in the evening.

This evening was super fun and upbeat as we all collectively gathered to celebrate all that God has done this week! We all enjoyed reliving several fun moments from the week by watching this week’s Mission Cam! Additionally we took time to recognize each and every adult that played a pivotal part in our project. The students were so excited to see their leaders being recognized. It is so wonderful to get to the end of the week and see the unity that arises among a squad. What a great thing!

Our final night of worship with Trey Duncan was fantastic as always. We are so glad that he was here serving with us this week! Tonight Doug spoke about being prepared for the enemy to come and being rooted in Christ for when that time comes. He left the participants with the challenge to go into church group devotions and be bold and share with the group what their life verse is and how it impacts there life.

Thank you so much for checking in everyday! We have really enjoyed this project and the church groups who attended. Please pray for safe travels as everyone heads home.

Signing off,
Jack & Alexis
