homeownerweb1This is Betty Barger of Muskogee, Oklahoma. This summer, Mission Serve had the privilege to work on the home of her 80 year old parents. Before our students arrived, Betty and her parents were forced to place buckets around the house every time it rained, due to the large amount of leaks in their house. As an elderly couple on a fixed income, they were not able hire a professional roofer and their deteriorating health did not allow them to replace the roof themselves. Through a partnership with the city of Muskogee and your generous donations, a group of students and volunteers from around the country were able to provide them a new roof free of charge. Betty shared with our students that this new roof brought much joy into her parent’s life, more than she had seen in years. All three of them enjoyed getting to know the students and seeing their passion for serving others. They appreciated the work Mission Serve completed on their home, but more importantly they enjoyed spending time with the volunteers. Betty and her parents are just a small representation of the over 250 homeowners that Mission Serve volunteers assist each year. At Mission Serve our focus is not just on fixing homes, but bringing hope through Jesus Christ through the relationships with the community. Your generous donations allow us to serve more individuals like this one and to expand our ministry to new locations.
