Greetings from D.C.!

This morning, the participants got up bright and early again for another day on the worksites. They were all rested from their day off yesterday, and were ready to go to work! They worked hard and came back this afternoon with lots of smiles and stories.

Tonight, worship was powerful. Never2Late, our band, played songs by Crowder and other artists with powerful messages in them. The band also challenged the participants to re-examine their own heart while the songs were playing, and presented the Gospel with urgency for students to respond. Eric continued to proclaim this message as he dived into James 4:1-12 and taught us how we should create and foster a Christ-centered Community. Eric taught that we must submit to God and resist the devil. He mentioned that the word “resist” meant to actually stand your ground against the devil, and reminded the participants that “the same power that defeated the grave lives in us”. Eric reminded us that worship was who we were daily, that it wasn’t just something that involves a church building or a song or even other people. Worship was how we act, how we thank God, and who we are everyday.

The night ended with this one thought, “Are You Serious About Your Faith”? Many people openly responded with one simple answer, “Yes”.

Tonight was powerful, but tomorrow is another day on the worksite. It will be the last time that the participants will be able to see their homeowner, and their squads before all of the church groups leave on Saturday. This is also the last chance that you can send them ServeMail before they leave! The mailboxes will be closed Friday night at 9:30, so if you want to send some more encouraging notes, now is the time! Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat for more stories and updates on projects!
