Happy Fourth of July!

Mission Serve celebrated Independence Day by sending off all the squads to their first official day of work! The participants were excited to go. After Nathan prayed over them, they sped off to their worksites.

Despite the heat and the rain, the squads got a lot of work done. Two of them even got visited by the local news! To check out the news interviews and articles here and here.

Worship tonight was in the historic First Baptist Church, who is graciously hosting us in their Activity Center. Justin Teseniar led us in songs proclaiming our freedom in Christ. As Nathan went over the 208 year history of the church, he reminded everyone that the reason they were there that night was because of generations of community. Hundreds of people over hundreds of years refused to stop meeting together as a community, as advised in Hebrews 10:24-25.

To wrap up the day, everyone headed outside to watch the fireworks! Then it was back to bed to rest up for tomorrow. It’s supposed to be a hot one!
